Warroad Boys’ Hockey Falls to St. Cloud Cathedral in OT in Class A Semis

Warroad boys’ hockey continued their journey for a fifth state title in the Class A state semifinal on Friday. Standing in their way, though, was 3-seed St. Cloud Cathedral, a team that beat the Warriors 3-2 in an overtime thriller back in November.

The game was another thriller, as Warroad was trying to avenge the early loss to the Crusaders and head back to the state championship game for the third straight year. It looked good out of the gate for the Warriors, where they led 2-0 after one period, but the Crusaders later tied it up and ultimately beat Warroad in overtime 4-3.

The Warriors eventually took third place in the Class A state tournament with a 4-1 win over Mahtomedi on Saturday.
