IT / Broadcast Technician

Lakeland PBS is seeking a full-time IT / Broadcast Technician.

Duties include the installation, operation, maintenance and repair of a wide variety of broadcast hardware and software, computers, networking, office, and other equipment.

Skills must include the ability to troubleshoot and repair the above equipment. Television technical and operational experience is not required, but is preferred.

Successful applicants will demonstrate good communications skills, attention to detail, the ability to work under pressure, punctuality, and a willingness to learn. Two-year tech school degree in IT / electronics or equivalent experience required.

LPBS has a long history of stability with an excellent board and staff. We have no debt, a solid cash position, and the start of an endowment fund. We have a strong community presence with an emphasis on local service, including our own nightly local news. We’re also a technology leader and have a strong online presence and are multicasting six digital channels throughout northern and central Minnesota.

Valid MN driver’s license required. Ability to walk, lift, push, pull, and carry at least 50 pounds required. Good vision, hearing, and physical dexterity required.

Television Public Affairs Program Host

Lakeland PBS is looking for an on-air host for its Currents public affairs program.

Currents is a 30 minute live-to-disk studio based talk show. Duties of the host include collaboration with station staff in selecting topics and guests for the program, coordinating and scheduling guests, research and preparation for each episode and hosting the program on-camera with guests.

Requirements for the host are knowledge of current public affairs in our region, good communications and public speaking skills, ability to think on your feet, attention to detail, the ability to work under pressure, punctuality, and a willingness to learn.
