Lakeland PBS has partnered with Anton and Madeline Treuer to air Ojibwe Word of the Day videos throughout the day on our Lakeland Prime Channel and PBS KIDS Livestream.
We are committed to help strengthen native language resources in our community.
Careers Beyond The Farm
Lakeland PBS has partnered with Minnesota Agriculture In The Classroom to bring you video shorts to inspire students to consider and learn about careers in agriculture that defy stereotypical routes.
The Boys of Bataan
The Boys of Bataan is a Lakeland PBS documentary detailing the service of the young men from Brainerd, Minnesota, who deployed with Company A of the 194th Tank Battalion during World War II.
Framing World War II through the personal stories, family letters, and archival audio of local high school graduates makes large-scale global history tangible and deeply relatable for students.
Dedicated To Care
Dedicated To Care: LTC Hortense McKay highlights the extraordinary life and military service of Lieutenant Colonel Hortense E. McKay, a native of Brainerd, Minnesota. McKay served as a U.S. Army nurse during World War II, caring for wounded soldiers in the Pacific theater, including during the Battle of Bataan.
Show students how a hometown hero from central Minnesota played a crucial role on the international stage, making military and medical history personal and inspiring while highlighting the often-overlooked roles of women in combat zones.
The Long Deployment
The Long Deployment: Minnesota Veteran Stories from Two Gulf Conflicts is an insightful Lakeland PBS documentary that shares the personal experiences of local veterans who served during Operation Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Helps students analyze modern 20th and 21st-century conflicts through the human perspective of neighbors and community members rather than just textbook timelines.

Our PBS LearningMedia™ portal is your destination for direct access to thousands of classroom-ready, curriculum-targeted digital resources. PBS LearningMedia builds on the strength of public media and is designed to improve teacher effectiveness and student achievement. Resources are aligned to Common Core and national standards and include videos and interactives, as well as audio, documents, and in-depth lesson plans.
You can browse by standards, grade level, subject area, and special collections. You can also favorite and share resources with your class and colleagues. Best of all, PBS LearningMedia’s basic service is free for PreK-12 educators.

At Lakeland PBS, we create many local productions thanks to the support of the Minnesota Legacy Amendment. These productions celebrate the unique art, history, and cultural stories that reflect our communities.

On My Way To K Guidebook

Ojibwemotaadidaa! is a children's show highlighting Ojibwemowin and Anishinaabe culture. Go on an adventure with the Waasabiik Ojibwemotaadiwin Immersion Program in Red Lake, meet artist Jonathan Thunder and visit kids from the Leech Lake Head Start, and Cass Lake Elementary.
Utilize Ojibwemotaadidaa! to help you integrate indigenous language and culture into your classroom in this fun and easy learning video format.
Moving Lives Minnesota
Moving Lives Minnesota: Stories of Origin & Immigration (MLMN) explores the histories of the many communities who have moved through and to Minnesota.
MLMN brings Minnesotans together to recognize and honor our similar and different backgrounds and experiences. We hope through this statewide initiative by the PBS stations of Minnesota, story-sharing will build empathy and understanding across our communities.
