Bemidji City Council to Consider Approving South Shore Plans at Tonight’s Meeting
BEMIDJI — The Bemidji City Council will be considering the approval of the South Shores Park plans at its meeting tonight at 6 p.m. The new park has been in the works for several years and some work has already been done, including the removal of timber debris and old wood chips along the lakeshore.
The estimated $600,000 park project includes a renovated beach house with restrooms and a community room, a swimming beach, a playground, walkways and a footbridge. In addition, the plan includes a concrete, lake-facing patio with picnic tables, chairs, flowerbeds and outdoor shower.
If approved, the park will be located between the Nymore boat access and the Sanford Center, adjacent to the Paul Bunyan Trail. Construction could begin as early as May 2016.
