Home in Mentor Evacuated, Highway 2 Closed During Propane Leak

First responders were called to the scene of a propane leak in Mentor on Monday night that prompted the evacuation of a nearby residence and a road closure.

According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, a 6,000-gallon propane tank was leaking at Solar Gas Yard. The propane tank was left to disperse until it was safe to shut the tank’s valves so it could be fixed.

A home located next to Solar Gas Yard was evacuated and Highway 2 was closed until it was safe again to use.
