Zebra Mussels Confirmed in Two Crow Wing County Lakes

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources says it has confirmed zebra mussels in Lake Hubert and in Lower Cullen Lake near Nisswa in Crow Wing County.

According to the Brainerd Dispatch, a resort owner contacted the DNR after finding several zebra mussels on a boat at a resort on Lower Cullen Lake. During inspections of adjacent docks and a nearby stream the DNR says that they have not found any other zebra mussels.

On Lake Hubert, a county watercraft inspector and a lake service provider business spotted adult zebra mussels on a boatlift as it was removed from the Lake. Zebra mussels were also found on a nearby dock.

Less than two percent of Minnesota’s lakes are listed as infested with zebra mussels.
