Warroad Girls Hockey Heads Back To State

Warroad Hockey has been so synonymous with winning, that the town has been duly nicknamed Hockey Town USA. This year, the Warrior girls have been doing a lot of winning, with a 23-3-1 record and a Section 8A title. Now, after a two-year hiatus, the Warriors are headed back to the Class A State Tournament once again.

The last time the Warroad Girls Hockey team made the state tournament, Sara Baumann and the other five seniors on this year’s team were only freshman. Now, three years later, Baumann and the Warriors are on a mission.

For many on the roster, this will be their first time playing at state. But for Head Coach David Marvin, this will be his sixth state tournament, after guiding the Warriors to five straight from 2009 to 2013, including back-to-back titles in 2010 and 2011.

And while everyone on the roster is excited to go, they’re even more excited to make their mark
