Wadena County See’s Increase In Wandering Livestock

The Wadena County Sheriff’s Office is asking all Wadena County Farmers, Ranchers and anyone that owns livestock to check their fences, especially their fence lines that are next to public roads.

Since June 1, 2016, the Sheriff’s Office has received 48 calls of livestock unsecured and wandering onto public roads.

Since September 1, 2016, the Sheriff’s Office has received 30 of these calls.

It is the livestock owner’s responsibility to keep their livestock secured on their property and to make sure fences are in good condition to keep their livestock contained inside the fence.

If property is damaged or someone is hurt due to livestock being unsecured, the livestock owner can be held accountable.
