The United Way hosted their annual chili cook off today for hundreds of people who came hungry and left happy. Twenty-three organizations served up chili Las Vegas style to raise money for the United Way’s fall campaign. The campaign chair, Sue Kringen, said they picked the theme because “if you’re dealt a bad hand in life, equate it to a bad card hand, United Way is there to give you a helping hand to get you going in the right direction.”

A few Elvis Presleys and other notable Vegas characters dished out unique flavors to get creative for a cause. Each chili was judged using five categories: presentation, taste, aroma, texture, and creativity, but only one cook wins the grand prize. The best overall chili award went to North Country Business Products for their white chicken chili.
