Update: Palace Hotel in Cass Lake Reopens After Unidentified Substance Sickens Five People

Multiple people were taken to the hospital on Wednesday after getting sick at the Palace Hotel in Cass Lake..

The Leech Lake Tribal Police Department tells Lakeland News that five people were taken to the hospital after getting sick at the hotel where an unidentified substance has been discovered. The hotel was shut down and hazmat units were on the scene since 3:54pm this afternoon.

A Chemical Assessment team responded from the Grand Rapids Fire Department and completed their assessment at 6:30 p.m. The hotel was declared safe for use and guests are returning to their rooms.

All five people who were taken to the hospital are expected to make a full recovery. The Palace Casino remained open during the incident and was not affected.
