Ultra Paws Receives Business Excellence Award

Ultra Paws received the Brainerd Lakes Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Award Thursday night. Presented at the Grand View Lodge in Nisswa, The Business Excellence Award recognizes area businesses for their entrepreneurial ambition and accomplishments.

In it’s fourth year the Brainerd Lakes Chamber Business Excellence Award recognizes local businesses on their entrepreneurial success.

Claiming the 2015 title was Ultra Paws, a family grown business that provides, durable and functional dog gear.

The idea sparked in 1972, when Kat MI Kennels, the previous name of the company named by Paxton’s parents, turned their love for dog sledding into a business. Back when they sold gear out of the back of their pick up truck. But it was late 1990’s after a fire incident, that Paxton took over the business herself.

2013 marks the most recent renovation to the current Ultra Paws building and Paxton says she can only hope to continue growing the family business.

And as the spotlight shines on Ultra Paws, the Brainerd Lakes Chamber of Commerce hopes highlighting these local success stories encourage others to pursue their goals.
