U.S. Air Force Veteran Reaches Halfway Mark Of 200-Mile Wounded Warrior Walk

On Thursday, March 15th, U.S. Air Force veteran Jerry Meadows embarked on a 215-mile walk from Bemidji to St. Cloud to raise money and awareness for the Wounded Warrior Project.

Meadows decided to do the walk to support the Wounded Warrior Project due to the help they offer veterans’ families.

“I am truly – in the last two years, I’ve just totally fell in love with the Wounded Warriors. Sometimes the family needs some help, too, and this is where they can go and get it free of charge,” said Meadows.

Meadows, who is on oxygen, walks as he is followed in a car by his wife.

“I have to keep an eye on the back, on both sides, and then in front,” said Jerry Meadows’ wife Virginia Miller. “That’s kind of tricky to do, but I get it done.”

“We sleep in our trusty old Jeep here and it keeps us plenty warm, and we intend to finish just like that,” Meadows added.

Jerry hopes that by going on the walk he is able to raise money and also awareness of the veterans in need in our country.

“Even at that last step, this is nothing compared to what they need,” said Meadows.

Jerry is determined to finish the walk no matter how long it takes.

“The hardest step on this trip was the very first one because that meant commitment. I can let myself down. Not them,” said Meadows. “And I won’t.”

Meadows has set a goal of raising $5,000 for the Wounded Warrior Project. To make a donation to the fundraiser, head to https://fundraise.woundedwarriorproject.org/RTT/Fundraising/individual/ROAD-WALKERS1 or call Meadows at (701) 403-4993.
