Two-Vehicle Crash In Wadena County Results In Injury

A two-vehicle crash in Wadena County resulted in injury on Saturday, March 23 around 1:00 p.m.

According to the Wadena County Sheriff’s Office, 80-year-old Leslie Mattson of Menahga was driving a minivan eastbound on 370th Street in Shell River Township when he failed to stop for a stop sign. Mattson proceeded through the intersection and was struck by a vehicle heading south on County Road 23. The driver of the vehicle was identified as 55-year-old Wanda Kangas, also of Menahga.

Mattson was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Park Rapids with minor injuries. A citation was issued as a result of the crash. Drugs and/or alcohol was not a factor in the crash and both drivers were wearing a seatbelt.

The Wadena County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Menahga First Responders, the Menahga Fire Department, and Tri-County Ambulance.
