Traverse County Requests State Disaster Assistance

Today the staff from the Department of Public Safety Homeland Security and Emergency Management division is assessing damages sustained in Traverse County from a thunderstorm on July 9-10.   There was similar preliminary damage assessment visits made to Benton, Kanabec, Mille Lacs and Morrison counties earlier this week. Traverse County emergency managers reported an estimated $12,860 in damages. Traverse County damages do not meet the federal requirements for FEMA’s Public Assistance Program, but they do qualify for the Minnesota State Disaster Assistance Program.
