TIP411 Program Helps Find Deerwood Burglar

Deerwood, Minn., – On Saturday deputies recovered a stolen 2013 Polaris Razor ATV from a residence on the 20000 block of Cottontail Drive.

The ATV was stolen a few days before at a residence on Placid Lake Drive. While deputies were there, they also came upon additional stolen property from other residences including another ATV 4-wheeler, and a boat and trailer that had not been reported stolen. The owner didn’t know it was missing until deputies contacted them.

Arrested in this incident was Gordon Mattsen, 36, of Deerwood. He is currently on probation through Crow Wing County for 3rd degree sale of controlled substance. Mattsen has a lengthy criminal history.

According to Crow Wing County Sheriff Todd Dahl, this recovery was the direct result of the TIP411 program that was implemented about four months ago. In a press release published from the Sheriff’s office, “The program works exactly as it was designed to do,” said Sheriff Dahl. “It allows people to submit anonymous tips through their phones or computers directly to our investigators.”

TIP411 is a web based program people can use on their iPhone or Android phones or computers. At no cost can people submit tips anonymously. A link to this program can be found at the Crow Wing County Sheriff’s home page.
