The Initiative Foundation Paths To Civic Engagement Workshop Series Inspired Future Leaders
The Initiative Foundation invited a group of young people from their emerging leader program who are interested in getting involved in civic leadership to hear from various public figures about the importance of millennials actively pursuing leadership roles.
Two of those speakers included a current Crow Wing County Commissioner and a Baxter city council member; whom also happen to be mother and daughter. One might say politics runs in the family.
The Nystroms have been serving their community for years and currently Quinn is running for the Minnesota House 10A seat. Presently in 2016 it takes a lot more than door knocking and passing out a pamphlet to win an election now days candidates must have a strong social media presence.
Being an elected official is very rewarding but both legislators admit that it’s not always exciting.
Together they encouraged the young people to stay true to themselves when time gets hard.
