Teaching Brainerd to fly

The view of the Brainerd Lakes Area from above the trees is no longer just for the birds. Brainerd’s Airmotive Express just hired a full-time pilot instructor to teach people how to fly.
Airmotive Express says it normally takes between 50-70 hours of flight training to achieve their private pilots license. They says they offer both the classroom and in-air instruction, but how fast future pilots want to graduate is up to them.
With BRD also serving commercial flights to International Falls and MPS, the Brainerd airport hopes to see the Airmotive students make a career out of flying.
Wig says Boeing predicts there will be a future need of more than half a million pilots to fly commercial planes over the next 20 years. And he hopes Brainerd can help create the next wave of pilots.
But for now the Brainerd Airport and Airmotive Express hope by showing off the birds-eye view of Brainerd they’ll be able to get more people interested in flying.
Flying above Brainerd I could see why pilots get so excited when they talk about how awesome the views are.
