Support Group for Parents With Special Needs Children to Meet on Thursdays

BEMIDJI, MINN. – For a parent of a child with special health needs, it can be isolating. Many feel that no one else understands their struggles. But that is not the case, and Sanford Bemidji wants to bring those parents together in a new support group called Parent Connection.

family-1003817_960_720“We really saw the need in our community for a group like this,” said Sanford Bemidji pediatric RN health coach, Emily Aaker. “Parents are truly the experts on their children and sometimes we as medical professionals can’t always get a full grasp on their day-to-day lives. We feel that this group will be incredibly beneficial for these parents to meet and discuss whatever is on their minds.”

The group will take place the last Thursday of every month from 5 to 6 p.m. in the Clinic Conference Room, 1611 Anne St. Free childcare will be provided. Upcoming gatherings take place April 28 and May 26.
