State Patrol Investigates 2nd Hit-and-Run Death in Aitkin

The Minnesota State Patrol and Aitkin County Sheriff are investigating a second fatal hit-and-run crash in Aitkin. Margaret Ann Johnson, 85, of rural Aitkin County was found dead near her mailbox on the shoulder of Highway 47 approximately 3.5 miles east of Aitkin on Friday, June 10.

Authorities believe that a vehicle struck Johnson near the shoulder of the roadway, and the driver may not have realized the contact had occurred. Investigators are asking anyone who saw Johnson near her mailbox on Friday, June 10, between noon and 1 p.m. to call with any information.

2nd Aitkin hit-and-run crash kills 10-year-old:

City officials are also asking for the public’s help in locating a possible witness to a hit-and-run crash Friday night that killed an 10-year-old girl in Aitkin County.

Caylin Donovan of Lake Park was hit by a vehicle just before 8 p.m. Friday, June 10, as she was at the edge of a driveway along Highway 18 in Aitkin County near Mille Lacs Lake.
