Downwind Murder Accomplice Sentenced

A St. Paul man was sentenced to 10 years and three months for aiding an offender Monday. Christopher John Davis, 27 years old, will serve the sentence at St. Cloud Minnesota Correctional Facility.

Davis will receive credit for the 236 days he has already served.

In July, Davis pleaded guilty to the felony offense with testimonial that he helped Marchello Cimmarusti transport the body of Rose Downwind, 31 years old, to an area west of Bemidji. He then dug a hole, burned and buried Downwind. He then sent a text message from her cellphone to her mother to make it appear she was still alive.

Marchello Cimmarusti, 40 years old, pleaded guilty in April, to one charge of second-degree intentional murder.
