St. Cloud State President Dies in Crash

A rollover accident on Monday afternoon claimed the life of St. Cloud State University’s President.

According to a post on the school website, 69-year-old Earl H. Potter was traveling to the Twin Cities when his Toyota 4 Runner went off the Interstate 694 road in Brooklyn Center and hit a guard rail. The Minnesota State Patrol’s report says he tried to over correct his mistake in the center lane before the car flipped over several times.

Several state figures released statements on the incident. MnSCU chancellor Steven S. Rosenstone said Potter’s leadership will be missed on many fronts. Gov. Mark Dayton echoed those words, saying the man accompanied him on international trade missions in an effort to find new students for the university.
