Sheriff’s Office Cracks Down On Livestock Owners

Wadena officials are asking livestock owners to check their fences due to calls of wandering livestock.

The Wadena County Sheriff’s Office is asking Wadena County farmers, ranchers and anyone who owns livestock to check their fences, especially the fence lines near public roads, according to a release from the Wadena County Sheriff’s Office.

Since June 1st, 2016, according to the release, the Sheriff’s Office has received 48 calls of livestock roaming unsecured on public roads.

The Sheriff’s Office reminded livestock owners in the release, that it is the owners responsibility to keep livestock safe and secure within fencing that is in good condition.  If the livestock does get out and damages property or harms anyone, the livestock owner can be held accountable.
