Severed Fingers Found in East Grand Forks Park are Being Tested in Bemidji

Police say two fingers found on a picnic table at East Grand Forks campground were human.

Melissa and Morty Atkinson’s family were setting up their campsite at Red River State Recreation Area when their 6-year-old found two severed fingers.

Upon discovering the fingers, they immediately notified the police and switched to a different campsite.

Forum News Service reports authorities say no blood was found at the scene, and no area hospitals reported treating patients with significant hand wounds.

The fingers were sent to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension in Bemidji for more testing.

We will update this story as more information becomes available.
