Search For New Brainerd Mayor

The search for a new mayor of Brainerd continues. Filling in as the interim is Brainerd City Council President Gary Scheeler. Scheeler explained that the council is about a month out from filling the position.

For only about a month Gary Scheeler has been filling in for former Brainerd Mayor James Wallin.

City Administrator Jim Thoreen that as of this Friday November 6th, the application to become the Mayor of Brainerd closes.

Scheeler explained that the candidates must be approved by the appointment process, but will only fill in for one year.

There is possibility of seeing three mayors within the year, so there is a lot of change the community of Brainerd could endure. But the council hopes that with the help of Scheeler they can get the new mayors feet on the ground quickly to fill the position.

The City council aims to elect the new mayor the night of December 7th.
