Sanford Center to Host GigaZone Gaming Championship

Bemidji, MN – The GigaZone Gaming Championship, the first stadium style eSports event in the region, will be hosted at the Sanford Center Ballroom on Saturday, November 12th.

In a press release published by the Sanford Center, Northern Minnesota’s best League of Legends teams will compete for more than $4,500 in cash and prizes with the doors opening at 10 a.m. and the first quarterfinal match scheduled for 11 a.m.  The championship is expected to start between 7-9 p.m.

“eSports is exploding and the GigaZone Gaming Championship has already garnered a lot of interest with 26 teams of five competing online to get to the championship rounds on November 12.  There is a large gaming community in our area and this will showcase not only some of the region’s best but give everyone a chance to get in on the action!” said Gary Johnson, Paul Bunyan Communications CEO/General Manager.

In addition to the League of Legends Tournament, the public is invited to participate in open gaming and tournaments of Street Fighter 5, Mario Kart 8, Donkey Kong, and Magic the Gathering.  Admission is free and there will be fabulous door prizes for those in attendance including an Oculus Rift – the incredibly immersive virtual reality (VR) headset.
