RREAL Installs Solar Panels for Lakes Area Habitat For Humanity

Lakes Area Habitat for Humanity just got a little greener. The local non-profit responsible for building 20 houses in Cass, Hubbard and Crow Wing Counties received a $15,000 donation for 48 solar panels from a Toledo, Ohio Foundation. Lakes Area Habitat for Humanity says it’ll help them cut costs while being a green example for the community.

Lakes Area Habitat for Humanity teamed up with Rural Renewable Energy Alliance (RREAL), who installed the solar panels to optimize its ability and to reduce the amount of snow that could pill on the panels.

With the extra money they’re saving on power costs Lakes Area Habitat for Humanity says they’re planning on setting up a separate fund to make them more sustainable.

The solar panel system will produced about 5 kilowatts of power and the Lakes Area Habitat for Humanity says their system will be a great example of what solar panels can do in Minnesota.
