Growing class sizes plus small school buildings equal a big problem for Brainerd Public Schools. Some schools are even using old locker rooms and closets as learning spaces, but a new facilities project approved earlier this week will help address the district’s dwindling space. The project will include a new secure entryway to Riverside School, as well as the addition of six new classrooms.

The $2.09 million project will be added to the north side of the building, and although it’ll give Riverside some much needed relief, it may affect other elementary schools in the district as well. But while the expansion may take students from the other schools, it seems most everyone agrees it is a good addition.
