Republicans Endorse Grossell, Green and Utke for State Legislature Seats

Local Republicans met Monday night and unanimously selected Matt Grossell, 50, of Clearbrook, to represent them in District 2A. Grossell is a retired Clearwater County sheriff’s deputy accustomed to serving the public and will replace Dave Hancock, of Bemidji, who announced last week that he wasn’t going to run again.

Steve Green, of Fosston, was endorsed for the House District 2B seat and has served on several committees since 2012, including the Greater Minnesota Economic and Workforce Development Policy.

Voted to represent the Republicans and unseat incumbent Sen. Rod Skoe, DFL-Clearbrook, is Paul Utke, 59, a Park Rapids insurance agent. Utica has held a position on the Park Rapids city council since 2009.

The Beltrami County Republican Convent is set for April 9 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Bemidji High School and will include electing county delegates.
