Remembering Minnesota’s Domestic Violence Victims

16 people in Minnesota this year have lost their lives from domestic violence. Another 35 victims died last year. Tuesday evening Brainerd’s Women’s Center and local law enforcement remembered those victims.
Along with floating a candle down the Mississippi River per victim, local police officers read each victim’s name aloud and read a statement about the importance of preventing domestic violence.
Each one of these cutouts represents a victim of domestic violence. And the participants say it’s important to work together to help prevent domestic violence.
Members of the Brainerd, Baxter, Pequot Lakes and Crosby Police Departments as well as Crow Wing County Sheriffs Department and State Representative John Ward gave their support during Tuesday’s vigil.
