Red Lake Nation Issues PSA on ‘Liquid Xanax’ Circulating in Area

The Red Lake Department of Public Safety is warning the public about what they say is a potent new drug circulating in the area.

According to a release from the department, the presence of the substance flubromazolam, also called “liquid Xanax,” was confirmed in the Red Lake and Redby districts. In Toronto’s drug-checking reports of September 2023, 31% of samples expected to be fentanyl contained bromazolam, a class which includes “liquid Xanax.”

Consuming “liquid Xanax” can result in strong sedation and partial amnesia lasting more than 24 hours. Death can occur if taken in large quantities. Sedation and partial amnesia can make people vulnerable to injury and loss of personal possessions.

If you have any information on possible narcotics use or sales, you can contact the Red Lake Narcotics tip line at 218-679-1922.
