Red Lake Kicks Off Absentee Voting Site

A steady stream of people walking in and out of the Red Lake tribal headquarters today was a sign of success for the Red Lake Political Education Committee. The committee held it’s kick off event today to celebrate absentee and early voting at a new satellite polling place on the reservation. The Minnesota legislature approved no-excuse absentee voting in 2013, but Red Lake residents couldn’t readily access the service, and many had to drive to Bemidji to visit a polling location. Committee members hope the new location will encourage people to get out and vote, not excuses. People absentee and early vote at the Red Lake Tribal Headquarters any week day between now and November 3rd.
