Red Lake Food Initiative Keeps Growing

Red Lake reservation members are trying to grow a better future for locals. The Red Lake Local Food Initiative has been in the works for the last year. The group has gone to seminars and training sessions to better prepare themselves for growing a large garden of vegetables, which will go right back into the community.

Leaders say schools and other organizations will be benefactors of the food they grow. Everything from tomatoes to lettuce will be grown. There will also be three types of corn in their community garden.
