Rear End Crash Kills Two in Mille Lacs County

Two men were killed after a five vehicle crash Sunday afternoon.

The Minnesota State Patrol reported that the rear end happened on Highway 23 in Mille Lacs County. The crash killed Travis Kiel, 35, of Foley and Robert Ehrlichman Jr., 62, of Holdingford.

Brenda Ehrlichman, 52, of Holdingford was taken to North Medical Center in serious condition.

Kiel’s vehicle was preparing to make a left turn to go north on 160th Avenue when he was rear-ended by 19-year-old Ryan Allen’s vehicle. Kiel’s vehicle then went into the westbound lane and struck two Harley Davidson bikes driven by the Ehrlichmans. Jonathon Darby, 17, of Minnetonka was also hit in his vehicle, but wasn’t severely hurt.

The Mille Lacs County Sheriff’s Office assisted the state patrol at the scene.
