Public Invited To Become “Make It OK” Ambassadors

Community members in Crow Wing County are invited to become “Make It OK” Ambassadors with the “Make It OK” Campaign put on by Crow Wing Energized.

“Make It OK” is a campaign to reduce the stigma of mental illnesses. By talking about mental illnesses and what we can do to “make it OK,” we change hearts and minds about the misconceptions about mental illnesses, according to a release. The “Make It OK” campaign is designed to encourage people to talk more openly about mental illnesses and ask for help.

The most recent Crow Wing County Community Health Survey found that more than 1 in 4 adults in Crow Wing County experience mental illness. Most will wait an average of ten years before seeking treatment, largely due to the stigma.

Crow Wing Energized is hosting a “Make It OK” Ambassador training to prepare others in the community to present the “Make It OK” presentation. Anyone is invited to become trained. The session is free, and will train and empower people in our community to give mental illness stigma-reduction presentations.

The training will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Essentia Health-St. Joseph’s Medical Center in the Thabes Meeting Room. The workshop is free but registration is required.
