Preventing Diseases During Tick Season

Aitkin, Cass and Crow Wing Counties are in the heart of Minnesota’s most at risk areas for ticks. And this season as we get ready to spend more time outdoors, doctors say it’s important to check yourself daily for ticks to get them off before they bite you.

Over the last two decades the areas that are prone to tick borne diseases like Lyme’s Disease has increased. As we head into the most active months for ticks doctors say if you get a tick bite to use tweezers to pull the tick off as close to the mouth as possible.

Doctors say if you have pets that live both inside and outside you should check them regularly for ticks so them don’t bring them in the house. Also is you start experiencing joint pain, flu like symptoms and rashes to get check for Lyme’s Disease.
