Preparation for the Ice Fishing Extravaganza

It’s the day before the 26th Annual Brainerd Jaycees Ice Fishing Extravaganza and preparation for the big event has yet to slow down.

The event is organized strictly by volunteers who have put in their time from sun up to sun down. But it’s the environment that keeps members like Johnson coming back for his seventh year.

Over the three day span of setting up for this event over 20,000 fishing holes are drilled for anglers venturing to Brainerd to catch a glimpse of the extravaganza.

Even with the two week postponement the warm weather expected tomorrow could compete with the record of warmest temperature recorded at 38 degrees.

With those temps, the Brainerd Jaycees expects the turnout to be just as successful as the previous years.
