Possible Prince Heirs Refuse Testing

CHASKA, Minn. (AP) – Two people who claim to be related to deceased musician Prince have refused to take genetic tests.

Brianna Nelson and Jeanine Halloran say Prince is their distant relative. According to Nelson, father Duane Nelson Sr. is Prince’s half-brother. Halloran is making a similar claim, stating that her minor daughter is Duane Nelson’s granddaugher. Both women are looking for a piece of the Prince estate.

The claims were filed in Carver County District Court. Nelson and Halloran filed objections to a judge’s ruling, which allows a special administrator to require physical testing of Prince relationship claims.

Nelson and Halloran’s joint filing says they have offered proof of both their relationships to Duane Nelson and his relationship to Prince. The filing says this evidence satisfies Minnesota law for presumption of paternity.
