Portage Brewing Announces Initial Plans To Rebuild

The owners of Portage Brewing in Walker have their sights set on rebuilding. They issued a statement on their official Facebook page Wednesday afternoon, which reads in part: “Into the dirt we go, Portage 2.0 is officially underway. The past three months since the fire have gifted us with time and headspace to intentionally redesign our organization, space, and vision for the future.”

The post goes onto to describe the new space. It says Portage will return with a refined focus on efficiency, traditional farmhouse and experimental brewing and an overhauled tasting room experience. The post also thanked donors, supporters and project leaders.

Portage Brewing was completely destroyed in early January after a fire broke out in the building. No one was injured in the fire and a cause was never determined.

The brewing spot has set up an Indiegogo crowd-funding campaign to help cover costs, as their building plans currently exceed their insurance coverage. You can find the link here. You can find the full Facebook post from Portage Brewing here.
