Pierz Man Dies After Falling Out of Boat on Leech Lake

A 68-year-old Pierz man is suspected of drowning after falling out of his boat on Leech Lake last Friday.

The incident happened near the Sucker Bay area of Leech Lake. The man was working the boat’s drain plug when he went overboard. Another man in the boat was able to float with the victim and the boat to shore, where lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful.

An autopsy is pending.
