Pequot Lakes’ Teachers Near New Contract Deal

Almost 450 days after their last contract expired Pequot Lakes’ teachers have reached a tentative agreement for a new contract.
The teachers reworked their pay matrix. Teachers get paid a set amount based on experience and degrees. They decided to add a one and a half percent raise to the first year earnings, one percent raiser to the second year earnings as well as lessening the number of years or steps to obtain the maximum salary.
Lindholm says working with the local Education Minnesota rep and teachers union allowed both parties to find a tentative deal that works best for both sides.
Despite starting their second straight school year without a contract, Lindholm says the teachers remained professional and continued to emphasis learning in the classroom.
All that remains is the teachers and school board to vote yes and to sign the deal.
