The Park Rapids Wrestling team is making history. The Panthers’ seventeen wins this season tie the school record. Ben Baumgartner owns the school’s individual wins record with 158 victories.
Baumgartner went 29-0 this season. The team contains 4 other 20 match winners on the season, including 29-4 Justin Dravis. The group has shown great maturity despite the roster naming only two seniors and one junior. Park Rapids racks up 49.4 points per meet, the third highest average in Class A. The Panthers own a 5-0 record against Section 8A teams, entering Saturday’s section tournament. Park Rapids last reached the state tournament back in 2001.
