Over Three Hundred Participants In This Year’s Bataan Memorial Death March

For 19 years the 194th Regiment has honored the A Company of the 194th Tank Battalion with a Bataan Memorial March and honor ceremony.

This year over 300 participants walked or ran either 10 -20 miles. Many of them were Minnesota National Guard Soldiers carrying 35-pound gear bags.

This year for the first time ever the event hosted a Freedom flight balloon that was anchored to the ground by Three Hummv’s. The P.O.W balloon normally gives rides to veterans.

The importance of remembering those who sacrificed everything for our freedom remains the essence of the event.

One of the last living members of Company A, of the 194th Tank Battalion Walt Straka was also in attendance for the opening ceremony.
