One Dead, One Injured in Wednesday Morning North Beltrami County Accident

The Beltrami County 911 Dispatch Center received a report of a motor vehicle rollover at approximately 8:06 a.m. March 23 regarding a crash with injuries near the intersection of Debs Road Northwest and Stai Drive Northwest, in Roosevelt Township, located approximately 24 miles northwest of Bemidji.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a 2005 Buick Rendezvous operated by Janice Peterson, 50, of Brookings, S.D., was traveling southbound on Debs Road Northwest when she lost control of the vehicle and it entered the east ditch, causing the vehicle to roll over and eject the driver and her male passenger, Corwyn Peterson, 47, also of Brookings, from the vehicle. Both the driver and the passenger were unrestrained in the vehicle.

The driver was found deceased at the scene. The male passenger was flown by Sanford Air Ambulance to a Grand Forks, N.D., hospital for treatment of his injuries. His condition is unknown at this time.

The crash remains under investigation by the Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office and the Minnesota State Patrol.
