Officials Respond to Wadena County Fire

A structure fire in Wadena County caused major damage to a cabin.

Just before 1 a.m. on July 2, authorities were called to a location on Conservation Road to find smoke coming from the roof and vent in the house.

The property owners, 65-year-old Alan Froleck and 59-year-old Paul Froleck, said they were watching a movie before hearing a popping noise, followed by smoke making its way into the cabin.

After failing to put out the fire themselves, 911 was called. Both men were able to get out unharmed in the incident.

A report from Wadena County says authorities believe an electrical issue caused the fire.

The Wadena County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Wadena and Verndale fire departments, responded to the scene.
