Officials Celebrate Hunger Action Day

Most families will sit down and enjoy a meal together this evening, but one in five children in north central Minnesota don’t know where their next meal is coming from. That’s why the Second Harvest North Central Food Bank is turning orange this month to call attention to hunger-relief. Elected officials and other local leaders were invited to the food bank for Public Service Hunger Action Day to learn more about hunger in the communities they serve. Officials helped pack boxes in order to learn about real people and real families, not just numbers on a balance sheet. Second Harvest hopes the experience will help officials make more informed decisions about hunger relief programs and other public policy.
