NTC’s Two-Year Free College Program and Tuition Reduction

High school graduates of 2016 may have the opportunity to attend two-years of college for free, with the help of a Minnesota State Colleges and Universities’ Two-Year Occupational Grant to many technical schools in Minnesota. This grant applies to prospective students of Northwest Technical College.

The school is urging students to sign up for school sooner, as the grants allocated are a first-come-first-serve basis.

The pilot program covers tuition and general fee costs, and it only kicks in after federal Pell grants and Minnesota state grants have been applied. To qualify, students will have to take 30 credit hours in the next Fall and Spring semesters.

The 2015 state legislature has also allowed a one-percent tuition reduction for all current and prospective students.

The goal is to encourage more people to pursue careers in the technical field, as there is a high-demand of jobs in that field.

NTC is an open-enrollment institution and is open for walk-in registrations throughout summer.
