Unpredictable… that’s the best way to describe lake ice. And, with this winter being somewhat bipolar, the ice has been a little more unpredictable. The freezing and subzero temperatures in the previous weeks did help the ice to thicken, but with a warm up on the horizon, officials say now is the ice can become more dangerous. But it’s most important to do your homework and know about the area you are heading to before you go out. You should also wear appropriate clothing. And although it may not seem necessary in the winter, officials say life jackets can be just as important.
