Northwoods Adventure-Hackensack Fishing Derby-2014

Organizers of The Hackensack Fishing Contest have claimed the event to be Minnesota’s largest children’s fishing contest. Today’s total registered 97 kids, who combined to catch 205 fish in only 1.5 hours. Two reasons for the high fish total: The Birchem twins. Emily pulled off a dramatic comeback, making up a five fish difference, to overcome her sister Olivia. The two anglers thrive in the heated, but good-natured rivalry. The twins have mastered the art of catching tiny fish, pointing the rod downward and tugging on the line, rather than the reel. The duo managed to overcome a British invasion by the Eastell family of Yorkshire, England. The Eastell children enjoyed their day because they cleaned house. William won the casting competition. Five-year old Jack Eastell won the largest fish award in his age group, but today’s grand prize winner was Sebastien Eastell. Seb is already forming plans for his new rod and tackle.
