Northwoods Adventure-Disc Golf Tournament

Minnesotans appear to be clinging to every last piece of nice weather before the temperature drops. Several frisbee fanatics took advantage of the opportunity to hit the disc golf course at Lum Park Saturday in Brainerd.
The tournament contestants divide into Men’s and Women’s Amateur, Pro, and Master divisions.
Greg Volkers has won the master division for the past five years. He makes disc golf look and sound simple.
Some golfers pack entire bags of discs, but three will suffice: the driver, the mid-range disc, and the putter.
The driver begins most holes. Some people can throw a drive more than 250 feet.
Naturally, some times the straight path is not an option.
Once the trees have been cleared, golfers can bring out their putters.
The putter weighs the least so it can float into the basket, at least that’s the theory.
Even with a miss or two, the tournament was a big hit.
