Northwoods Adventure: Cuyuna Pump Track

The City of Cuyuna is working with interested citizens on the design and construction of a pump track. The Cuyuna Pump Track hopes to bring a new feature to the mountain biking trails and to further position the city of Cuyuna and their support for an active, healthy lifestyle.

Nestled right inside Cuyuna off County Highway 30, adding to the well-known cycling town of Cuyuna, is a new mountain bike trail.

And the new attraction is a pump track which is an outgrowth of BMX.   A pump track consists of a continuous circuit of dirt rollers, berms, and jumps that loop back to itself, allowing a rider to ride continuously.

The pump track is expected to be 2,000 feet long with three tracks starting with the beginner, an intermediate, and then an expert track. But Swanson, says they aren’t quite finished yet.

And although the trail is still receiving its renovations, Swanson says it is rideable to the public.

The process has lasted since about 2013 since the designer and contractor who were hired, but volunteers have repaired and up kept the project.

Swanson says that all the volunteers, like himself, are passionate about simply giving back to their community.
